Everything you need to know about shampoo bars and why you should ditch the bottle.
The beauty industry has a lot to answer for when it comes to its environmental impact. This includes the huge consumption and the use of chemicals, but most notably – the packaging. It’s no secret that many of the bottles that hold shampoos, conditioners, moisturisers and other skincare products are neither degradable nor recyclable – leading to the plastic pollution of our seas. This in turn causes unimaginable harm to wildlife. Over 1 million marine animals are killed each year due to plastic debris in the ocean.
But, you can make a difference. Shampoo and conditioner bars are the latest trend to take the hair care world by storm – and there are SO many reasons to make the switch. It’s up to you to help our planet by reducing, reusing and recycling.
Why you should switch shampoo bottles for shampoo bars
Making the switch from liquid to bar is a really simple step to lessen the environmental impact of your daily routine. Here’s seven reasons why you’ll never look back…
1 - They last longer
Shockingly, most shampoos are 80-percent water and conditioners can be even more—up to 95-percent water. But our range of shampoo bars are concentrated and will therefore last far longer than bottled products. On average, a shampoo bar will outlast two to three bottles of shampoo, which means you save money – AND the planet.
2 - They come in zero-waste packaging
Our shampoo bars cut out the need for plastic bottles and come in a handy little, reusable metal tin. It’s never been more important to go plastic-free. Currently, about nine million tons of plastic get thrown into the ocean annually – this equates to one garbage truck full of plastic being dumped into the sea EVERY minute. And one million plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute, with this number projected to jump another 20% by 2021. Why not try and make a small dent in this number?
3 - They are PERFECT for travelling
Fed up of trying to cram your shampoo and conditioner into little clear bottles inside a clear plastic bag just to get on to the plane for your city break? Us too, and our shampoo bars have completely saved us the trouble. One is more than enough to last you your entire trip, so just pop it in your hand luggage and go! And you won’t be worrying about any spillages threatening to damage your favourite bikini.
4 - They smell amazing
Nothing beats the smell of freshly-washed hair – and with our bars, you can choose from a variety of amazing flavours. If you like something fruity, go for our passion fruit
, tropical mango
, or watermelon bar
. Prefer something fresh? You’ll love our lemon and ginger
bars. And for a real morning wake-up call, try our peppermint and tea-tree bar
. How many shampoo bottles do you know that can offer you such a variety of scents?
5 - They’re cruelty-free
Our bars contain essential oils and natural ingredients and are cruelty-free. They’re all vegetarian, and most of them are vegan too. Another plus? Many shampoo bars are free of palm oil, an ingredient linked to deforestation and habitat degradation.
6 - They’re cost-effective
These bars can last up to 80 washes – and at just £5.98, this can save you a small fortune. And, going back to point 3, you’ll never have to fork out on mini travel-sized bottles.
7 - They make your hair feel great
Our shampoo and conditioner bars leaves your hair looking soft, shiny and free from build-up and are suitable for normal, dry, curly, oily and colour-treated hair. They are SLS, SLES and paraben-free and even work well in hard water. Prepare for a hair revolution!
How to use them
Our shampoo bars are incredibly simple to use. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Wet your hair
- Stroke your shampoo bar over your hair it a few times to lather it up, or rub the bar between your hands to create a lather
- Gently massage it into the scalp and hair, as you would with a liquid shampoo
- Rinse out and condition with one of our conditioner bars for that extra TLC!
